French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development (MAEDI)

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development (MAEDI), under the leadership of Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault since 2016, has an extensive worldwide diplomatic network with 163 embassies, 92 consulates general and consulates and 135 embassy consular sections, and about 15 000 staff in France and in the world. The MAEDI is the 4th largest contributor in the world in volume for Official development assistance and was the second largest contributor to the global fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and Malaria. It also promotes the French culture and French language teaching abroad with the French Institutes and Alliances françaises.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development in its attractiveness mission has also created programs for entrepreneurs and business, among them the YEi Start in France competition which has been deployed in three embassies: the Embassy of France in Italy, the Embassy of France in the United States through the Office for Science and Technology and the Embassy of France in South Africa.
